Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about ComedyPass
For Comedy Fans
What is ComedyPass?
ComedyPass is a platform that connects comedy lovers with local and touring comedy shows. We make it easy to discover stand-up, improv, and sketch comedy events near you, purchase tickets securely, and enjoy amazing live performances.
How do I purchase tickets?
Purchasing tickets on ComedyPass is simple:
- Find an event you'd like to attend
- Select the number of tickets you want
- Click "Add to Cart"
- Proceed to checkout and complete your payment
- You'll receive your tickets via email instantly
Are there any additional fees when buying tickets?
Yes — a service fee is added at checkout, on top of the ticket price. It's shown to you before you pay, so there's nothing hidden, but the ticket price on the event page isn't the final total. The fee goes to ComedyPass; the producer keeps their full ticket price.
Can I get a refund if I can't attend the event?
Refund policies are set by the producer running the show, not by us, so they vary from room to room — check the event page for that show's policy before you buy. If you need a hand with a refund, email support@comedypass.co and we'll help you sort it out with the producer.
Do I need to print my tickets?
No, you don't need to print anything. All tickets are digital and can be shown on your smartphone. Simply open the email we send you and show the QR code to the venue staff when you arrive.
What if an event is canceled or rescheduled?
If an event is canceled, you will automatically receive a full refund. For rescheduled events, your tickets will remain valid for the new date. You'll receive email notifications about any changes to your events, with options to request a refund if you can't make the new date.
How do I find comedy shows near me?
The home page shows events near your location automatically, and you can search by location, date or type of comedy to narrow it down.
For Producers
How do I list my comedy events on ComedyPass?
Getting started is easy:
- Create a producer account at comedypass.co/for-producers
- Complete your producer profile with venue and business details
- Set up your payment information
- Create and publish your first event
There's no approval queue — once you've finished onboarding you can publish, and your shows are live to comedy fans straight away.
What are the fees for using ComedyPass as a producer?
Nothing. There's no setup cost and no subscription, and we don't take a percentage of your ticket price — price a ticket at $25 and you receive $25.
Your buyer pays a service fee at checkout instead, on a tiered schedule from $2.25 on a $15 ticket up to $4.25, and 5% plus $0.75 per order above $75. Every part of the platform is included at that price. See the full fee schedule.
How do I get paid for ticket sales?
We use Stripe for secure payment processing. During onboarding, you'll connect your bank account through Stripe. You're paid out the day after your show, and you can track all sales and payments in your producer dashboard.
Can I manage multiple venues or shows?
Absolutely! Your producer account can manage multiple venues, shows, and comedy series. You can also add team members with different permission levels to help manage your events.
What marketing tools are available to promote my events?
Marketing runs inside the same system that sold the ticket:
- Meta campaigns built and launched from your workspace, on your own ad account and page — so the following you pay for is yours
- Budget recommendations from your room size and your own past cost per ticket
- Ad copy written from your actual lineup
- Instagram and Facebook posts planned and scheduled for the week's shows
- Attribution down to the individual ad, so you see which creative sold a ticket
- Discount and referral codes, customisable event pages, and an embeddable widget for your own site
Email marketing to your own list is coming, but isn't live yet. More on marketing.
How do I check in attendees at my events?
Download ComedyPass Studio on iOS or Android and scan the QR code on each ticket. The scanner stays open so you can work through a queue, and it flags tickets that have already been used or are for another night. There's also a live door list you can search if someone turns up without their phone.
Can I offer discount codes or special pricing?
Yes, ComedyPass supports flexible pricing options including:
- Multiple ticket tiers per show, priced independently
- Discount codes, by percentage or fixed amount, limited by use count or date
- Referral codes — give each comic their own to see who actually brought the room
- Pay-what-you-can as a real ticket type
- Add-ons at checkout for merch, meet-and-greets or a drink at the door
All of these are set up when you create or edit the show.
