Built for how comedy shows actually work

The software independent producers and comedy clubs run their shows on — and the place audiences find them.

Why we exist

Comedy borrowed its software from industries that work nothing like it. A tour plays the same show in twenty cities. A theatre run sells the same seats for six weeks. That's what event software was built for, and it's why selling the ticket gets treated as the whole job.

Comedy isn't like that. Next week it's a different lineup, in a different room, on different terms, sold to a different crowd. So producers patched the gaps themselves — ticketing here, a spreadsheet for who gets paid, an ads dashboard somewhere else, a notes app for the lineup. ComedyPass exists because of the patching, not because selling tickets was hard.

For producers and clubs

One platform to sell, market, manage and run your shows. Showtimes and table rooms, per-comic deals that settle themselves, campaigns that run from your own ad account, and a number at the end of the night that you didn't have to work out by hand.

For comedy fans

Find shows near you and buy tickets in about thirty seconds — no account, no app, a QR code straight to your phone. Every show you book is run by an independent producer or a club, and the money goes to them.

What makes it different

  • Built for comedy, not adapted for it: shows with showtimes, lineups with roles, rooms with 4-tops — the things a comedy night actually has
  • The night closes itself out: set what each comic is on once and the settlement works out every payout, then the profit
  • Your money, your account: ticket revenue goes to your own Stripe account and pays out the day after the show
  • Your audience, not ours: ads run from your own Meta account and page, so the following you pay for is yours to keep
  • All of it included: no setup cost, no subscription and nothing to upgrade to — your buyers pay a service fee at checkout and you keep your full ticket price

Our story

I've produced over 1,000 comedy shows — mostly around Nova Scotia, but also across Canada and Europe. For most of that I was building my own tools to get through it, because nothing I could buy understood the job.

Opening my own club is what made it undeniable. Suddenly it wasn't my own lineups any more: it was comics, managers and agents, all with different terms, every week. The ticketing didn't know about the lineup. The lineup didn't know what anyone was on. None of it knew what the marketing had done. Every Monday went on working out what Friday had made.

So I built the software I needed to run my own room. Once it was working, it was obvious that none of those problems were mine alone — every club and every independent producer has the same ones. That's what became ComedyPass.

Come and have a look

Whether you're after your next night out or you run the room, everything here was built by someone who has stood at the back of it.
